Eye Care
Find the Right Lenses for You
Not sure which CooperVision lens is right for you? No problem! Just answer a few simple questions, and we well recommend the CooperVision lens that best addresses your particular vision and performance needs.
Of course, please keep in mind that these are just suggestions. Your eye care professional will want to talk with you and likely give you an eye exam before making a final determination of which CooperVision lens is the right choice for you.
Colored contact lenses have become more and more popular as they become more affordable and accessible. (Not to mention the rising popularity of all the light-eyed celebrities: Ashwariya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, and so forth.). Similarly, more and more people are also going for the more subtle vision correction method: prescription contact lenses. Whether they are colored or prescribed, many brides will wear contact lenses on their wedding day.
For all those who wear lenses, itchy eyes, protein build-up and rewetting drops is nothing new. We at SeasonsIndia.com have put together some tips which will help you to minimize irritation and keep your eyes healthy.Dark Circle under Eyes
A woman expresses herself through her eyes and therefore you have to take special care to make them more expressive and beautiful. We bring you tips that will help you take care of your eyes and much more.
Dark Circle Under Eyes
Dark circles occur under eyes due to a combination of reasons. It is noticeable under the eye, as people get older. As we age and receive more sun damage to our facial skin, the thin skin under the eye can become thinner and wrinkled, which allows the veins in the fat pad under the eye to become more prominent. As the skin here is slightly darker than the rest of your face, any changes in health show up immediately in this delicate area. Some people think that they occur because they are either tired, or as a result of sun exposure. This is not typically the case. Sometimes the dark spots can be hormonal, but often they are just hereditary.
Sometimes the dark spots are caused by the reflections or shadows cast by the bulges of fat that occur naturally in the lower eyelids as people get older. If the bulging of fat is the cause of the dark circles under the eyes, then cosmetic surgery to remove the fat bags is the only approach that is typically effective, other than concealer makeup. There are many contributing factors that make dark circles around the eyes more noticeable.
Age - The skin covering the eyelids thins out as we age and starts to loose its elasticity. With the skin being thinner the blood vessels underneath become more apparent. To assist in collagen formation and re-vitalizing your fragile skin around the eyes - please consider taking an extra vitamin C (ascorbic acid) supplement, after checking with your medical practitioner.
Heredity - Tendencies such as allergies or thinner eyelids pass on from generation to generation.
Allergies - Although allergies are often the blame for dark circles, anything that causes chronic nasal obstruction can be the culprit. You might not have a major medical reaction to an allergen, such as wheezing, couching, sneezing or a closed chest - you could simple have a slightly stuffy nose, or swollen eyes most of the times. Tests can be done to determine environmental or food allergies with a simple skin scratch test, a blood test or other alternative types of testing. If you have any of the tests done, and they come up positive for any item that you could avoid as far as possible, go the extra mile and try to cut the allergen out of your sphere of living - be that either environmental or food in origin. Vitamin C is effective in fighting allergies.
Fatigue, tiredness or lack of sleep - Plain tiredness will also add to the problem of bags under your eyes, and especially to those ugly dark circles under the eyes. Have a look at the amount of hours you sleep and also check on the amount of hours you work in front of your computer or watch television - both these actions place a tremendous strain on your eyes.
Smoking - You might not smoke yourself, but even secondary smoke can affect the way your eyes look. Most people will have a violent reaction to smoke, such as the eyes turning bloodshot or watery, while others will manifest their allergy as swollen eyes. Take vitamin C as smoking kills off large amount of this vitamin, every time you light up.
Ingesting excess salt or sodium
¨C Try and cut down on eating raw salt as it could add to your problem with water retention.
Fluid retention - Fluid retention can be a major cause of swollen eyes. Vitamin C is a natural diuretic and an increase in this vitamin will not only assists in removing excess water from your body, but will also assist with collagen formation.
Other reasons of dark circles are menstruation, pregnancy, thyroid and over exposure to the sun.
Following are few treatments for dark circle that will help alleviate or conceal them.
- Dip a cotton swab into freshly extracted mint juice, rosewater or cold milk. Lie down with your feet raised higher than your head, and then place the wet pads on your closed eyes. Stay that way for 10 minutes. Do this everyday and you will start seeing results before long.
- Gently massage saffron or almond oil on the dark area before going to bed.
- Lie down and place a slice of cucumber or potato on each eyelid for about fifteen minutes.
- Follow a diet rich in iron, vitamins and proteins. Deficiencies immediately show up as circles under the eyes.
- You can also use a mixture of almond oil or cucumber juice with lemon juice to lighten dark circles.
Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.
Exercise for the eyes
- Sit down and relax. Breathe normally, and look at a spot between your eyes, above the bridge of your nose. Keep looking at this spot for a count of five, and then relax the eyes. Next look at the tip of your nose, also to the count of five and relax. This exercise will ease the stress and tension and will relax your eyes.
- Sit down and relax and look straight in front of you. Inhale and look right as far as possible, without turning your head. Slowly come to the original position and exhale. Repeat the same method for the left side. Do this exercise three times.
- Sit up straight and look down. Slowly inhale and start rolling your eyes to the right and then to the top, in a circular movement. When your eyes have reached the top, looking towards your eyebrows, start exhaling while moving your eyes left and downwards in a circular movement. Repeat three times
Eye Care Tips
- Take A vitamin diet to make eyes brighter. (papaya, eggs, fish, milk, cilantro etc.,)
Wash eyes with cold water to get sparkling eyes.
- Put sliced cucumber over your eyes to treat dark circles.
- Put potato slices on your eye to get rid off those dark circles.
- Soak amla overnight in water and use this water the next morning to wash the eyes.
- Soak cotton in Luke warm milk and cover eyes with it for 15 min.
- To soothe tired eyes, dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on closed eyes for 10 minutes. Now relax completely.
- To completely relax the eyes and the surrounding muscles, close your eyes and think of something that is pleasant or soothing and at a distance. Now gently open your eyes and look into the distance. Next focus on an object at arm's length. Do this extremely relaxing exercise four or five times a day.
- If your eye twitches, or your eyes are red and feeling itchy, massage your scalp with curd.
- Soak 1 tsp. dry amla in one cup of water overnight. Next morning strain it through a muslin cloth and then add one extra cup of water. Splash your eyes with this solution each morning. This makes your eyes sparkle.
- For Puffy Eyes: Grate a potato with its peel and apply on your closed eyelids for about 20 minutes and relax completely. You may even take a nap.
- Wash your face before sleeping, and ensure that there is no make-up on your face before you sleep, because, make-up creams may spoil your face as it will be there for the whole night. It is better if no cream is applied. What I feel is, wash your face before sleeping and if at all you want to apply any cream, just apply night cream and none other than that.

Long Lasting Stunning Nails
- Start at the center of the nail and wiping toward the tip when removing old nail polish.
- Use a cuticle remover cream instead of cutting your delicate skin.
- Always file in one direction. The nails weaken and break easily if you nail it back and forth motion.
- Buffing is good on your nails it boosts circulation and encourages nail growth.
- The right way of mixing your polish is rolling the bottle between your palms. Shaking it will cause air bubbles.
- Use a base coat before your color applying it same way with your nail polish.
- Make sure that the first coat is completely dry before applying the second coat to prevent formation of bubbles.

Selecting A Nail Polish
Nail polish comes in thousands of shimmering rich colors and are these days available in quick drying formulas that stay longer to make your nails look stylish always. It is very important that you let each layer of nail paint dry, before applying another coat on it. To quicken the process, you can use the branded quick drying formulas, readily available in the supermarkets. It always handy to keep a cotton bud by your side to remove excess nail varnish on the top of the bottle, as it will prevent of it being glued shut by the drying of the color. You can easily get a coordinated look while doing makeup by visiting a cosmetic saloon and trying out nail polishes that compliment your lip color.
Some beauty product companies, even offer makeup kits that have eye shadows, mascaras, lip liners, lipsticks, blushes and nail polishes that harmonize with each other well for making your makeup choices much more easier. There are quick drying formulas and strong longer lasting formulas to choose from. Speed-dry nail polishes dry quickly of course, but on the other side, they chip easily too. They should be used only in emergencies and should not be included in your daily makeup kit. Strong and longer lasting nail polishes are chip-resistant and do not need frequent touch-ups and are thus pretty good for daily purposes. If you are in a hurry and need a quick manicure for our nails, opt for light or sheer shades. Always store your nail polish in a refrigerator though a cool dry place is still a better option.
Solid color manicure is the most basic and simplest of all. Basic neutrals and mild nail colors are best for first meetings and job interviews. If you are wearing open-toed sandals, you can also apply the same shade on your toenails for the stylish look. Match your nail polish with your outfit. For an easy pick, try choosing the shade that is the second most common in your clothes to emphasize it. Since black and silver lend a bold look so use it only while dating, going to the parties or when you are going on outgoing with your family and friends. Become a craze in your school or college by doing you nails in school colors. You can try painting one nail in one color entirely and then use another color to paint the next nail and so on or paint the body of the nail with one color and tips with another. Dare to paint the nail in one color and the mascot of your school on it in another color.
