Perfect skin is usually only seen on actresses and singers, mainly on pictures so heavily airbrushed that they almost become unrecognisable. But something that all these celebrities make sure they have is a greatskin care routine. Layering on make-up for a shoot means that their pores can become blocked and their skin suffers but with a simple cleanse, tone and moisturise and some added extras the skin can be brought back to its former glory.
Follow these simple steps and you will have great looking skin in no time….
The first step is steam your face. This is really simple, just boil the kettle to get some hot water, pour the water into a bowl, then put a towel over your head and hold the bowl (make sure it's not too hot to hold!) near your face for about 5-10 minutes.
Now wash your face with warm (not hot) water and a cleanser for your skin type. For example, if you have acne, you would want an oil free or lightly medicated cleanser. Nothing too harsh or drying, because you'll more than likely be washing your face twice daily.
The next step is to rinse your face THOROUGHLY. Make sure the soap is GONE. Do a final rinse with cool (not cold) water to close pores.
Toner removes all traces of dirt, make up and cleanser from the skin that remain after cleansing. Immediately after cleansing apply toner to the forehead and cheeks on a pad of corron wool. Apply the toner to the crevices around the nose. Apply the toner to the crevices around the chin.
Moisturising helps in restoring the natural moisture to your face and making it more soft, supple and glowing.
After you are done with your cleansing and toning, you must moisturize your face in order to regain the moisture lost.
Clean your hands before you apply moisturizer to your face.
Deeply apply the moisturizer on your face in a circular with upward strokes motion.
Do not over use moisturizer as it will clog your pores and give way to black heads and pimples.
The next steps are optional because each skin type will react differently so beware of how much you do with your skin because if it is sensitive it may cause an outbreak or become dryer. Sometimes less is more….
- Exfoliate twice a week whilst in the bath or shower, the steam with open the poors and make it easier.
- This is the same for facemasks. Apply once a week after steaming the face and choose the right mask for your skin type. This will help clear out any dirt or spot building grime that may be hiding in the skin.
- Choose both a night and day cream. Your day cream should be light and refreshing so it does not make your make up slide off. Your night cream so be thicker as the skin replairs itself over night and this is the perfect time to replenish it.
- Lastly if you are over the age of 30 now is the time to be thinking about investing in a good eye cream to combat wrinkles. This cream can be applied to the outer edges of the bottom lid, where wrinkles form when laughing.
